More Growth, Expansion on Horizon for ReMedPar
ReMedPar is proof positive that a company can undergo continual expansion without suffering from oft-associated growing pains. Part of the reason is that Goodlettsville, TN-based ReMedPar has taken a calculated and consistent approach to growth – a strategy that has helped position the 20-year-old company as a longstanding leader in the medical imaging segment.
“Growth is our culture. We don’t just have projects, we have strategies to grow through partnerships with our vendors and customers, and through potential acquisitions,” said Mark Graham, ReMedPar’s President and CEO. “We’ve built a reputation of honesty, integrity and value, and we’re committed to maintaining that culture as we grow.”
That growth has been quite awe-inspiring. In 2001, ReMedPar’s sales revenue totaled $4 million and Graham predicts that figure will reach approximately $45 million this year.
“We’re honored by the fact that new customers are finding us,” Graham continued, adding that since January 2006 ReMedPar has opened 72 new accounts and continues to serve all service organizations, including in-house groups and some of the largest ISOs and OEMs in the industry, both global and domestic.
Multitude of Services
Behind ReMedPar’s growth lies a strong commitment to quality and comprehensive service offerings. The company buys and sells only certified medical imaging equipment that must pass a 72-point certification process before leaving its facility, and offers both installation and deinstallation services. Parts are another integral part of the business, with ReMedPar now carrying an all-inclusive line of parts for virtually every manufacturer and modality of medical imaging equipment. All parts are quality assurance tested and come with a 60-day warranty.
Then there’s the well-received technical training component, which includes in-depth, hands-on instruction in model-specific classes, such as GE Lightspeed, X/I, CT/I, Prospeed, Picker PQ 5000, GE Advantx Legacy, OEC 9600, GE AMX 4/4+, and Introduction to Imaging Modalities. Classes are attended by students from around the world, some from as far away as India, China, Germany, Poland and England.
Customers will have access to an even broader range of services in the near future, thanks to ReMedPar’s commitment to reinvest approximately $7 million back into its business to support future growth. That reinvestment will go toward building infrastructure, IT and technical capabilities, and recruiting more skilled engineers to ensure quality and improve the already high level of technical support that customers have grown to appreciate (ReMedPar’s 24-hour customer support line is offered to customers at no additional charge, allowing them to order a part and receive troubleshooting assistance any hour of the day, 365 days a year).
“On the IT side, we’re developing a customer web portal to allow customers to review in real time the shipping status of parts, account status and other information, such as schematics and product data to help them perform their jobs more effectively,” Graham explained. Another new investment aimed at improving customer service and satisfaction is the introduction of product-specific shipping containers to reduce shipment damage, along with the implementation of ESD certification to reduce static damage to parts.
Bigger and Better
To match its burgeoning service portfolio, ReMedPar’s facilities have also had to undergo extensive growth. Just this year, the company doubled its facility footprint to more than 100,000 square feet and recently added sales offices in Florida and California.
“Fortunately, we have been able to lease additional space as needed, without relocating,” said ReMedPar’s customer development manager Joyce Ludovissy. Further expansion is in the works, including the addition of 25,000 square feet to accommodate construction of more quality assurance bays to ensure the quality of the parts sold. The systems in these QA bays will include GE MRI, Siemens high-end CT, and other multi-manufacturer models of mammography, ultrasound and nuclear medicine equipment.
Look for ReMedPar to embrace even more growth opportunities in the near future. According to Graham, a move into the Biomed parts market is imminent and will happen when ReMedPar has completed a thorough investigation of that market.
“An initiative of this magnitude must be managed carefully so it does not dilute the products and services we offer today,” he pointed out.
Whatever products and services ReMedPar offers next, one thing remains certain: customers can continue to rely on the company as a trusted, reliable, quality- and value-driven independent provider of medical imaging equipment.
“Our mission is to lower the life cycle cost of owning and maintaining medical equipment, while at the same time, providing exceptional quality and value for our customers,” noted Graham.
