Mobile X-Ray Solutions
Boosts Service Portfoliio for Portable Segment
Mobile X-Ray Solutions Inc. (MXS) has come a long way since its inception in January 2003. What began as a sales organization extension of Benco Inc., dealing directly with GE on portable X-ray machine rebuilds, has grown into something far more substantial.
Benco's vast knowledge and experience as a vendor for GE rebuilding models from the AMX 110 to the AMX-4 Plus, in addition to working on R&D projects, Green & Black Belt projects and managing the AMX Extend program, gave MXS a strong foundation on which to build.
The company's consistent growth over the years should come as little surprise given that MXS' founder, Bill Bentley, carved out a much needed niche in the refurbishing industry; MXS was founded to reach a broader market and to become the premier solutions provider for the portable industry. Because the Benco name had become synonymous with GE, Bentley capitalized on the expertise gained over the 14 years he spent building for GE and set out to launch his own company.
The business development process was involved and arduous. Rather than merely assuming what customers wanted, Bentley went straight to the source, spending two years conducting extensive research with biomed and clinical engineers, and radiology directors. He asked them to identify the tools that would best enable them to streamline their work processes, reduce maintenance issues and eliminate downtime. Their answers ultimately became the solutions that MXS brought to the table. Put simply, that research played like the medical refurb version of The Field of Dreams line, "if you build it, they will come." MXS developed the solutions, and the loyal customers followed.
Over the past two years, the MXS solutions portfolio has been further expanded. The list now encompasses rebuilt and upgraded portables, Signature Series AMX-4 Plus portables, Canon Portable DR System retrofits, S.W.A.P. Program, OEM parts both new and rebuilt, PM package, first aid kits, technical training and support, rentals and loaners, and Intelikey, the programmable pad that replaces the key.
Bridging Gaps
MXS prides itself on its comprehensive training and educational offerings for the mobile modality. As newer models of the AMX portables were introduced to the marketplace and GE discontinued its training on these units, MXS embraced the opportunity to step in and offer training on the AMX 4 Plus.
The company introduced a comprehensive five-day training course that effectively met those educational needs. Training has been very well received with class size limited to just six participants to provide a more hands-on educational experience for each student. According to Bentley, both customers and MXS have benefited from the class.
"[The training course] provides us with a ready-made 'sales team' because when an engineer attends our class, he experiences first-hand the quality and level of commitment to excellence that goes into our work. They take that information back to the workplace," he noted, adding that MXS can say with confidence that every person who has attended the training class has become a loyal customer. And that list of loyal followers continues to grow steadily.
Beyond training, MXS has become steadfastly committed to fulfilling the need for a dependable, quality-focused portable supplier for the ever growing number of independent service organizations and group purchasing organizations. While portables represent a small part of the imaging equipment arena, they can be a large drain on resources when they don't function properly or are out of commission completely, Bentley explained.
"We have spent a great deal of time developing our customer base in this area and have been extremely successful in helping our customers dramatically reduce downtime, while decreasing their service-related costs and capital equipment expenditures by replacing older units with our quality rebuilt ones," he said.
Then again, quality has always been the name of the game for MXS. Since the company began upgrading all its AMX-4's to the AMX-Plus, its warranties have dropped to fewer than 3 percent. This kind of success is passed along with each unit purchased from MXS.
"Our customers know that when they purchase equipment from MXS, they are not just buying a portable. They're buying years of knowledge and experience built on quality, integrity and total customer satisfaction," Bentley added.
Even more good news is that customers don't have to spend top dollar for that level of quality and expertise. As Bentley put it, MXS remains committed to growing, developing and streamlining the solutions offered while, at the same time, "striving to deliver today's quality at yesterday's prices."
