BUILDING VALUE
ONE CUSTOMER AT A TIME
Have you ever heard of a business that valued its customers so much that they created their company name from them? Well that’s just what Curbell Inc. did in 1942. The loyalty towards their first two customers, Curtiss-Wright and Bell Aircraft, assisted in the creation of the name “Curbell.” This customer appreciation lives on today with Curbell’s focus on understanding their clients needs and providing them solutions that add value.
Curbell Electronics, a subsidiary of Curbell Inc., is located in Orchard Park, NY, a suburb of Buffalo. Curbell Electronics was created in 1960 to manufacture hand-held controls for hospital television sets. Today, Curbell Electronics is the healthcare industry’s largest supplier of replacement pillow speaker units. Because of our customers’ needs, Curbell Electronics has expanded its line to offer healthcare products for nurse call systems, patient monitoring, paging, beds, and fall management.
In 2004, Curbell Electronics launched their patient monitoring line with just a few cables and lead wires. Today, Curbell Electronics has grown to include a full line of patient monitoring products, including ECG cables, leadwires, telemetry sets, SpO2 probes, NIBP cuffs, cable management and testing equipment.
“Since the launch of the patient monitoring line, Curbell Electronics has been able to reach all aspects of the patient monitoring market by working directly with biomedical and clinical engineers in hospitals and learning more about their goals and needs,” said Scott Carter, Product Manager for Patient Monitoring. “For example, Biomedical professionals wear many hats in today’s hospital environment, this includes maintaining nurse call equipment and fall management products, due to their increasingly technical requirements. As a result, Curbell has added products to assist in the maintenance and testing of this equipment.”
Curbell prides itself on being a learning organization and recognizes that in order to meet the needs of its customers, the educational development of its employees is important for the company’s long-term success. To help facilitate this success, all Curbell employees from Customer Service and Sales to Marketing and Procurement are technically trained on all of our product lines. The employees have access to a state-of-the-art learning center and a full-scale demo hospital room. In addition, a new engineering test lab was recently added to the Curbell campus.
“Curbell is a company that is constantly evolving. All of our internal teams are driven towards being the leader in our industry and that starts with a focus on the customer. This past year we launched an educational program focused on the new UL requirements for oxygen testing of nurse call products. Our customers came to us looking for information on the standards and an understanding of how these guidelines would impact them. We made it our job to reduce the confusion and educate the market,” added Doug Rockwood, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
Customers can continue to expect world-class service and strong partnerships when working with Curbell Electronics. They have kept the same goal since founding the company and will continue towards having a value-focused offering for customers that is second to none.
