One Company,
One Source for ALL your Laser Needs
by Robin Santana, President, LaseR Ventures,
Inc.
LaseR Ventures moves into its third year providing
laser rentals, laser sales, both new and pre-owned,
and purchasing of laser equipment from hospitals and
surgery centers around the country. As LaseR Ventures
continues its growth, it has taken another step in responding
to the markets demand with its provision of new
products and services.
Directors of surgical facilities are always looking
for ways to save costs. As an alternative to OEM pricing,
LaseR Ventures announces its provision of high-quality
holmium, yag and KTP fibers for most laser systems.
In addition to single use and reusable fibers, LaseR
Ventures now offers many accessories for lasers, such
as blast shields, protective eyewear, hand pieces and
various hard to find items for older laser
systems.
Before electing to represent the new line of fibers,
LaseR Ventures implemented the InnovaQuartz
fiber technology into its own rental services. Traditional
holmium laser fibers with standard SMA-905 laser connectors
are designed to protect the blast shield in the event
of fiber failure or laser misalignment. Thanks to the
Black Hole technology, surgical facilities
will no longer have to replace blast shields every time
a blast shield blows, thereby resulting in additional
savings.
The Sure Flex single use and reusable holmium
bare fibers are available in 150, 200, 273, 365, 550
and 1000 micron sizes and can be used with Lumenis/Coherent,
Trimedyne, Dornier and Newstar holmium laser systems.
The new 90Õ single use side-firing fiber, the Maxlight
90Õ is available in 200, 365 and 550 micron sizes and
is designed for various surgical applications. Also
available are the traditional 74Õ single use side-firing
holmium fibers. Fibers for KTP (532nm) and Yag (1064nm)
lasers systems are available in 400 and 600 micron sizes
with SMA-905 connectors.
Other concerns for OR directors is in its continual
education and training in laser safety, physics and
operation for its staff. LaseR Ventures has contracted
with keynote educators and will be providing training
courses in Atlanta, Georgia this fall. Certified courses
for medical Laser Safety Officer (LSO), Laser Safety
and Physics training and customized training courses
are also available to accommodate a facilitys
specific needs on site.
Laser service and maintenance for many older vintage
lasers has often been difficult to find. LaseR
Ventures has established a referral base with several
third party laser service contractors for facilities
considering an alternative to OEM service for their
Preventive Maintenance and annual service contracts.
Some manufacturers no longer service certain vintages
or models of lasers, whereas many third party service
contractors have parts available and knowledge of the
older systems. Electing this option can often save a
hospital as much as 25% in comparison to OEM charges
and with much better turn-around time, in many cases.
LaseR Ventures continues to respond to hospitals
and surgical facilities desirous of saving money without
compromising quality. As many Purchasing Managers are
faced with justifying purchases of laser equipment and
whether its worth while to maintain their own
lasers, LaseR Ventures offers a more affordable
option.
As O.R. Directors are discovering how difficult it is
to keep their staff trained and versed in current laser
technology, LaseR Ventures offers customized on-site
courses to resolve these issues.
Should LaseR Ventures currently provide laser
rental service in a hospitals area, the company
has an established network of resources around the country
that can provide laser rental service.
Along with its new products and services, LaseR
Ventures hopes to be the LASER solution
for many hospitals and surgical facilities One

The
SureFlex line of reusable and autoclavable Lithotripsy
fibers uses the Black Hole proximal termination. This
revolutionary and patented termination method accepts higher
power levels than any competing design. In the unlikely
event you do manage to overpower the connector, the hermetic
fiber face absolutely prevents damage to your laser optics.
These devices are compatible with any SMA port laser. Various
SMA nut adapters and extenders are available for specific
requirements.
The SureFlex fibers are available in single use or
multiple use (5x) versions. Standard reprocessing and sterilization
techniques can be used for multiple use designs.

MaxLight
90°- Truly Lateral Fiber

MaxLight 90° is the first truly lateral, all quartz
fiber. The design exploits our proprietary numerical aperture
(NA) compression technology for Total Internal Reflection
(TIR) at higher angles than previously possible. The resulting
output is virtually indistinguishable from an axial fiber's
outputnear 100% transmission efficiency in a round
spot of low divergence. As such, the fiber is extraordinarily
'hot' and is an exceptional tissue vaporization tool.Laser
