Lase’R Ventures, Inc. celebrates the beginning of its fifth year with its expansion of surgical and aesthetic laser services to many hospitals, surgery centers and physician offices across the country.

Lase’R Ventures continues to provide various surgical laser wavelengths to its customers, such as CO2, Holmium/Nd:YAG and KTP/YAG , as well as Pulsed Dye laser systems for aesthetic applications. With each laser rental delivery, the company provides a certified laser technician to operate the laser and observe laser safety; various laser accessories and delivery systems, including single use and reusable bare fibers, micromanipulators, couplers, microscope and laparoscope adapters, protective eyewear and signage.

On several occasions, Lase’R Ventures has provided short-term laser rental agreements to facilities that are awaiting repairs on their laser systems or for new laser equipment to arrive. With its extensive inventory, Lase’R Ventures can provide almost any laser need with a customized rental agreement.

“On one occasion, a hospital in Nebraska contacted us as to whether we could provide a holmium laser system while they were awaiting their new laser to arrive from the manufacturer. It worked out that we were able to provide the laser system for two months, which prevented any interruption in the hospital’s laser services to their physicians and community,” recalls Robin Santana.

Many facilities are evaluating whether laser ownership is the most economical choice. Lase’R Ventures provides assistance to Surgical Services and Materials Managers in that evaluation process as to whether it’s more economical to rent the laser systems they need versus maintaining and operating their own. Should it be decided that renting lasers is a better solution, Lase’R Ventures can provide quotations based on the facility’s specific needs, whether it be on a per case basis or a monthly rental agreement.

When a surgical facility decides to rent the lasers it needs versus maintaining the ones they own, Lase’R Ventures can provide an offer to purchase such lasers and provide an evaluation of the lasers to aid the Materials Manager in determining whether to keep the systems.

Another challenge for facilities with laser ownership is continued education in laser safety, regulations and policies for their staff. Lase’R Ventures conducts Medical Laser Safety Officer (MLSO) and/or staff training courses which are customized to suit each facility’s need, depending on which laser wavelengths are being utilized at that time. The one-day MSLO course meets ANSI and JCAHO requirements. The course provides education in laser safety, history, physics, types and applications. Regulatory issues and Policies and Procedures are taught and include a “hands-on” workshop.

Each MSLO course attendee completing the course receives a course certificate which includes nine AORN Continued Education Units and the MSLO manual to take home with them for future reference.

“We are proud to be able to assist O.R. Directors with the challenge of keeping their staff laser-trained and certified. We have designed a program that is easily customized to each facility’s specific needs,” Robin Santana explains.

Hospitals and surgery centers are equally faced with a shortage in nurses and staff to operate the lasers they own. One option to be considered is Lase’R Ventures’ provision of certified laser operators on an as-needed basis. The company can provide contractual laser operators for such services in many areas around the country.

“We’ve provided laser operators to several surgery centers that own their own lasers, but couldn’t justify hiring a full time laser operator/technician. Fortunately, we’ve been able to fulfill that need,” Robin Santana comments.

Lase’R Ventures has established a referral base with several third-party laser service contractors around the country. Annual Preventive Maintenance and Service Contracts are available as an alternative to OEM service once the warranty has expired. Furthermore, many OEMs are no longer servicing certain vintage and model lasers. As a result our contractors carry many parts and are trained to service some of the older lasers.

In addition to its laser services, Lase’R Ventures is proud to announce its merger of services with its parent company, ‘R Ventures Medical, Inc. which buys and sells pre-owned hospital equipment, providing many facilities with an alternative to dispose of medical equipment no longer being used. For many years, ‘R Ventures Medical has been a provider of used hospital equipment in the after-market, both domestically and internationally.
