New ArmorSeat™ Chairs from
BioFit are the Right Solution
for a Variety of Settings
Today’s surgical facilities consist of an array of environments, from patient intake, triage and reception areas to administrative offices, labs and the operating rooms themselves. Choosing reliable, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing seating for each setting can be a daunting task. ArmorSeat,™ a product launched by BioFit this March, should make the job a whole lot easier.
BioFit Engineered Products, an Ohio-based manufacturer and long-standing leader in the development of ergonomic seating solutions, announced the introduction of its new ArmorSeat line of chairs in early March. The culmination of more than 200 hours of research and development, these products are intended to replace the company’s classic Duragrain chairs in the healthcare market, offering greater style, design and durability benefits in the process.
“The roots of the Duragrain chair date back to the 1960s,” reported Ed Metzger, president of BioFit. “Over time, as the general physical characteristics of users as well as movements to perform specific tasks evolved, so did our need to manufacture seating that would be highly functional in as many healthcare environments as possible.
“Taking a top-down approach to design allowed us to build-in versatility while adapting the performance aspects of the new ArmorSeat series for the varied settings found in healthcare facilities. Plus, it also allows us to offer a more attractive looking line of chairs.” Metzger said
ArmorSeat chairs include fully contoured lines, a waterfall-front seat set at an incline of six degrees and innovative design elements that are not only eye-pleasing but functional in terms of ventilation and movement. To help fight bacteria, the chairs feature an anti-microbial property that is integrated into the seats and backs. Other features include a stipple-textured finish to make the seat less slippery, and UV inhibitors to help the chairs resist fading. In addition, the chairs are made of a recyclable polypropylene that uses far less plastic, oil and other potentially environmentally harmful substances than the old Duragrain chairs. All chairs in the ArmorSeat line carry the ergonomic tradition and are backed by the 13-year warranty synonymous with BioFit.
Metzger stated that the company was proud of the fact that it had been able to develop a new seating line that competes with some of the bigger names on style. In his estimation, ArmorSeat products represent a move to a higher-end design reflective of today’s marketplace.
“BioFit is moving toward manufacturing products that architects can look at when designing everything from triage units and patient admission areas to treatment rooms, nurse stations, employee lounges and beyond,” Metzger forecast.
