Quick-Drain™

Quick-Drain™ Waste Management Systems provide safe and cost-effective disposal of liquid infectious waste. Quick-Drain protects staff and satisfies OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard for removing infectious waste risks in the workplace. Two separate systems are available; one that utilizes Bemis Hi-Flow Rigid Suction Canisters and the other for Bemis Quick-Fit™ Suction Liners. These systems quickly drain infectious waste into the sanitary sewer at a rate of 500cc per second saving staff time. Quick-Drain saves money by reducing red bag waste and eliminating per-use disposal costs such as solidifiers and other disposables. Both systems connect to existing plumbing and require no electricity to operate. An optional adaptor is available to drain any large volume canister (12000cc or above).

AIRPHASE
High-Capacity Air Purifier

Biological Controls introduces, for Surge Capacity and Pandemic Preparedness, the AIRPHASE high capacity air purifier for the removal of infectious airborne pathogens and other airborne contaminants. Used in applications requiring constant air filtration and air changes or establishing isolation and pressurized environments such as negative pressure isolation areas. Utilizing both high efficiency HEPA filtration and high output germicidal UVC lamps it provides the ideal combination to emergency planners for use as “in-line” duct connections or re-circulation of air within large volume areas of up to 12,000 cu. feet per unit providing 12 (ACH) air changes per hr. Power requirements are 115V or 230V.

ChloraPrep® and Hi-Lite Orange™ Tint

ChloraPrep®, including the new tinted product, is a one-step patient preoperative skin preparation. It delivers precise volumes of tinted ChloraPrep solution in a unique applicator that keeps the hands away from the procedural site and also provides a gentle friction scrub to help penetrate deeper into the dermal layers. The patented new tinting technology adds the Hi-Lite Orange tint to the ChloraPrep solution as it passes into the sponge pad so the prepped site is easy to see. ChloraPrep is a 2 percent chlorhexidine gluconate and 70 percent isopropyl alcohol skin preparation available in multiple applicator sizes for use in a variety of vascular and surgical procedures. One application of ChloraPrep exceeds the FDA criteria for a patient preoperative skin preparation. ChloraPrep acts rapidly against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. In contrast, traditional iodophors can take two to three minutes until their antibacterial properties take effect. Additionally, ChloraPrep is persistent. It prevents the regrowth of microorganisms on the skin for 48 hours. And, unlike other commonly used skin preps, ChloraPrep maintains its effectiveness in the presence of blood and organic matter.

Maximal Barrier Precautions Kit
Medline has announced the launch of the new Maximal Barrier Precautions Kit (central line bundle) to help hospitals prevent central line infections and comply with national patient safety initiatives such as the JCAHO 2006 National Patient Safety Goals, 100,000 Lives Campaign and the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP). The Proxima Full Body Central Line drape is being launched in conjunction with the precautions kit which will also include an Aurora gown, bouffant cap, and facemask with an eyeshield. The Proxima Full Body Central Line drape, which is included in the kit, provides a maximum sterile barrier in accordance with current guidelines for preventing central line infections.

It also includes multiple access points for convenience and versatility. The reversible design of the drape allows positioning for femoral, subclavian or additional peripheral access sites. With easy-to-open, clear peel-off fenestration covers, the drape allows the clinician to visualize the insertion sites prior to positioning. The drape also offers large reinforced absorbent areas surrounding the access points. In addition, the drape comes with a maximum barrier draping application guide which takes the user step-by-step through the proper draping technique.
